Listening

Listening

“Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.”. Stephen R. Covey.

Good listening encourages others to express their ideas, opinions, and various expressions about life. Listening is an art that most people fail to pass. The most essential quality needed for a listener is to understand others fully.  Once the listener understands the speaker well, then there won’t raise a matter of verbal response. The more you listen the half you speak for better.

Proper eye contact of the speaker creates greater confidence in the listener.  A listener cannot assure the speaker about listening unless he looks into the eyes of the speaker. The art of listening never can be compared with hearing as the latter represents an only sound. If one interprets half of the speaker’s message, the ideas may not be completed and may cause the speaker to deviate from the actual message.

Active listening is considered one of the essential soft skills needed in one’s life. It’s the basic nature of all the people to speak and interrupt the speaker without coding completely. The speaker’s burden can be reduced through good listening. The speaker himself should take solutions to their problems rather than imposing resolutions and suggestions on them.

The art of listening may be developed patiently through self-introspection. Training isn’t applicable for listening as it varies from person to person. Hard skills may be learned from institutes or universities but for soft skills, the person himself might be the best trainer.

We may have enough courage to speak or protest something against but the same effort is expected to listen to the things from others.

Good speakers may not be good listeners too. Accept the positive ideas through active listening and adopt them in life.

Thanking you
