Vocation
Vocation
The dictionary defines vocation as
"a feeling of suitability for a particular career or occupation."
Achieving a desired career becomes easier when we have a strong sense of
vocation. It is a passion—something long-awaited and deeply felt. A strong
vocation is a vital quality for building a successful career. The journey of
life, in many ways, is about discovering that vocation within ourselves.
Find the vocation in us.
The search begins during one's
student years. If you aspire to pursue a particular course, it often aligns
with a specific career path. A strong sense of vocation is essential to stay
committed to your chosen profession. However, circumstances and unexpected
opportunities can sometimes lead to a different job than the one originally
envisioned. True vocation requires genuine passion and unwavering
determination. It is a lifelong journey of discovery and purpose.
Choose a vocation that aligns with
your deepest ambition. Stay aware of changing societal trends and take time to
understand your own strengths. At times, family expectations may differ from
the path you’ve chosen. The vocation you aspire to may also demand more
strength or skills than you currently possess. Since trends evolve rapidly,
it’s important to pursue a vocation that is enduring and meaningful over the
long term.
How to be strong in Vocation?
Adequate training strengthens a
person’s commitment and competence in their chosen vocation. It sharpens both
skills and abilities. Activities such as reading, hands-on training, exchanging
ideas, and engaging in research all contribute to vocational growth. A strong
sense of vocation can ultimately improve one’s standard of living. To progress
effectively, it is important to establish a mentorship structure for each
vocation and seek guidance from experienced mentors in the field.
When do we feel that our vocation is wrong?
If our current vocation fails to
improve our standard of living, we may begin to question whether we chose the
right path. But can we change it frequently? While it is possible to change
vocations, finding the perfect fit is not always easy. After careful
observation and reflection over time, we usually select a vocation. So, after
years of study and experience, is it truly feasible to switch careers suddenly?
Although frequent career changes have become a modern trend, long-term
professional growth often requires commitment and consistency in one’s chosen
vocation.
Thanking you
